Natwest MoneySense is failing in its promises, says Which

Wed, 06 May 2009

Consumer watchdog Which? has found that high street bank Natwest is not providing an impartial service in its MoneySense scheme, set up to provide financial advice for its customers.

Researchers for the group attended 20 sessions of the bank's MoneySense service, and only four provided impartial advice as advertised while six focused exclusively on Natwest products .

Which? has stressed the importance of an impartial financial advice service and urged customers to shop around before deciding on mortgage, savings or investment products.

Doug Taylor, personal finance campaigns manager for Which?, said: "This would be an invaluable service if Natwest was always actually delivering on its promise of free, impartial financial guidance. However, it is being let down by the poor standard of at least some of the service being delivered."

Business owners were recently invited to attend a series of seminars set up by Barclays bank looking at surviving the recession, starting today (May 6th) in Stratford-upon-Avon .
